The exam simulator is great
Was skeptical about the digital tools at first but the exam simulator is the real deal. Timed conditions, randomized questions, performance breakdown after each test. After running through it several times I could see exactly where my weak spots were and fix them before the actual exam.
Used the flashcards on night shifts
I work nights and have slow periods around 2am. Started using the digital flashcards during those stretches. Consistent small sessions over several weeks added up to a lot of retained material by the time I sat down for the real thing.
Great books, it work
Passed the exam. Got my license. Running my own jobs now. I don’t have a lot more to say than that — I came in looking for something that would actually get me through and this did exactly that.
Used it alongside my state handbook
Paired this with my state’s official exam handbook and between the two I felt completely covered. This was definitely the heavier lifter. The state handbook tells you what to know — this teaches you how to actually understand it.
Kept me off YouTube rabbit holes
Every time I’ve tried to self study before I’d end up watching random videos for hours and retaining nothing. Having a structured guide with real practice questions kept me focused and moving forward instead of drifting.
Passed my Oregon exam
Oregon has a reputation for a tough contractor exam. Used this guide exclusively and passed both sections on the first attempt. The business law coverage in particular lined up well with what Oregon’s exam focused on.
Audiobook helped a lot
I have a 40 minute commute each way. Started playing the audiobook every single morning and evening. By the time I sat down to take practice exams, half the material already felt familiar.
Used it alongside YouTube and passed easily
Combined this with some free videos online and felt completely prepared. The practice tests in here were harder than the real exam which is a good thing.
